3 Freeman Alley. Lower East Side, New York City.
Freeman Alley is easy to miss. It's a narrow, cobblestoned passage off Rivington Street — no sign on the main road, no obvious entrance. You have to know it's there.
At the end of the alley is the Untitled Hotel: a boutique, design-forward property that has become one of the Lower East Side's most distinctive addresses. Inside the hotel, there is a tattoo studio. That's Unscripted Ink.
Unscripted Ink was founded by Liv Novotny — a working artist who wanted to build a studio that felt like hers. Not a franchise. Not a chain. A space where the art was the point, the experience was thoughtful, and every client felt like they were somewhere that was made for them.
Liv brings fifteen years of combined tattooing and mural work, along with seven years of precision tattooing and professional piercing. Together, they built a roster of artists whose specialties span the full range of contemporary tattoo styles: illustrative, fine line, black and grey realism, geometric, neo-traditional, ornamental, color — and made-to-fade ephemeral ink, a specialty that Unscripted Ink is one of the only studios in New York City to offer.
Since opening, they've become a destination — for LES locals, for hotel guests from around the world, and for anyone in New York who hears about a tattoo studio hidden at the end of an alley and needs to find it.
Nearly 200 five-star Google reviews later, the studio speaks for itself.
Freeman Alley has its own history in New York City — a quiet, cobblestoned corridor that has housed artists, restaurants, and cultural institutions for decades. The Untitled Hotel at No. 3 is the latest chapter in that story: a boutique hotel designed with the neighborhood's creative identity in mind.
Our studio lives inside the hotel — a space that feels more like a private gallery than a tattoo parlor. Warm, quiet, intentional. The rooftop bar is upstairs. The art is happening downstairs. It's a combination you won't find anywhere else in New York.
Hotel guests at the Untitled Hotel receive priority access to Unscripted Ink, including a complimentary flash tattoo for stays of three or more nights. But you don't need to be a guest to book. You just need to know where to find us.

Every tattoo is a permanent decision. We treat it like one — in our design process, our technique, and the time we take with every client.
We don't hide our artists behind a studio brand. When you book with Unscripted Ink, you book with a specific person whose work you've chosen because it speaks to you. That relationship matters.
The studio is inclusive by design — in the artists we've assembled, the clients we serve, and the environment we maintain. Tattooing is for everyone who wants it.
If a design won't hold up over time, we'll say so. If a placement won't serve the art, we'll offer alternatives. Our reputation is built on work that looks as good in ten years as it did fresh.
