Aftercare

Proper aftercare ensures your tattoo heals beautifully. Follow these guidelines for the best results.

1

First 24-48 Hours

Leave the Saniderm/film on for 24 hours. This protects the tattoo from bacteria and allows it to heal in its own plasma. When you remove it:

  • Gently wash with unscented, antibacterial soap
  • Pat dry with a clean paper towel
  • Apply a thin layer of unscented lotion
2

Weeks 1-2

The tattoo will peel and may scab — this is normal. Continue to:

  • Wash 2-3 times daily with unscented soap
  • Apply unscented lotion 2-3 times daily
  • Keep it clean and dry
  • Don't pick at peeling skin or scabs
3

Weeks 2-4

The tattoo should feel healed on the surface. Continue moisturizing to keep the skin healthy and the colors vibrant.

Do

  • Keep the tattoo clean and moisturized
  • Wear loose, clean clothing
  • Wash hands before touching your tattoo
  • Use SPF 50+ on healed tattoos for sun exposure

Don't

  • Submerge in water (pools, lakes, baths) for 4 weeks
  • Expose to direct sunlight while healing
  • Pick, scratch, or peel the tattoo
  • Use scented products or heavy creams

Ephemeral Ink Aftercare

Ephemeral tattoos heal similarly to permanent tattoos, but there are a few things to know:

  • The tattoo will begin to fade around 9–15 months
  • Sun exposure can accelerate fading (use SPF!)
  • Once fully faded, the skin returns to its original state
  • Touch-ups are not guaranteed — each person's biology is different
